This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. If you have a chance to stay here, make a booking because the place is often booked out. Gion Koh is located in Gion, of course. There are lots of traditional buildings around and most of the sites are within walking distance. The center of town is about a 15 minute walk. The place itself is very traditional and looks like a ryokan. We booked a room on the ground floor next to the koi pond (which my daughter loved). It was a tatami room, which means sleeping on the floor, but it was the most comfortable stay we had in Japan. Hiro, the host, was very helpful and pointed out all sorts of sights in the area. He also walked with us to a Japanese pancake restaurant that was phenomenal. I highly recommend staying here if you can. さらに表示

Gion Koh was one of the most memorable experiences if my 11 day Japan trip, which is not what I expected from a hotel! The house is beautiful and relaxing, the check in room is the most relaxing place in all of Gion. The garden has a koi pond and lighting at night, you can fall asleep to the sound of running water. It feels like a quiet little bed and breakfast even though there is a big shrine right down the road. The host, Hiro, is a very friendly man with lots of personality, he sat with my wife and I and recommended lots of things to do and see in Gion based on what we like to see. He speaks English very well and will go out of his way to be helpful. His hospitality is unmatched. We stayed in a Japanese style room with futon mats. I am used to a mattress and still found them comfortable. The room we stayed in was the perfect size for two people, and like the rest of the house, beautifully designed. When I come back to Kyoto, I'm staying here again for sure. Top recommendation. さらに表示

We rented this place for Ryokan experience. This place is value for money as you can walk around the heritage and surrounded by the tourist attraction. We took some time to reach this place via Google Map as the board is not big enough so it takes a little bit of time to locate this place. Overall the experience is good! さらに表示

we arrived a bit late, but the staff waited for us. On the check out, we couldn't get a taxi, and he walked far away and called taxi for us. The garden was so beautiful. If you are traveling in Kyoto, you should definitely try staying here. さらに表示

I was stayed here for one night, the cleanliness of restroom is good, all facilities are okay, except they don't serve mineral water. The location is the best, you can rent kimono near the hotel around 2500-8000 yen then take pictures at yasaka or kodaji shrine. さらに表示

Very nice place, modern luxury with authentic charm. VERY helpful staff, very accomodating. Helped book and plan our stay. Very comfy beds, stayed in triple at front.
