This hostel is with traditional Japanese decoration and there is a public bathroom on the ground floor and a family bathroom on 3rd floor. It's super convenient to shirakawa, i definitely recommend it to my friends in the future. さらに表示

Nice ryokan hotel with traditional japanese room. Room is big enough for 4 person to sleep together and very clean. but price is a bit over the top for this kind of hotel. Location is just beside Gion. but a bit far from bus/train station さらに表示

Didn't get a meal. The ryokan was clean, staff was very nice, public bath was just ok. Should have more shower facilities available or have the public bath hours open longer. Bedding was comfortable. Staff was nice, albeit their English was not great, they were certainly caring. I'd stay again, depending on the price. さらに表示

the only good thing about this place was the male staffer on over the night. He was helpful in suggesting places to visit and could speak and understand English. apart from that my husband and i were extremely disappointed. We were an hour early to check in so had to wait around the foyer area. We thought we would use this time to start looking at activities to do whilst in Gion. The ladies at the counter could not help with anything as they didn't speak English. We had to figure out how to use the public phone in reception (i.e how much a phone call costs) and after numerous call drop outs and call backs we managed to book in a dinner and a tea ceremony for that afternoon. Upon entering our room we were hanging for a green tea. something you get in all the hotels in Tokyo. However they did not have any. Only instant coffee. This place is extremely overpriced for what it is. We didn't enjoy the traditional Royokan experience as it didn't feel authentic at all. Would not recommend this place. さらに表示

My stay was short but great. The facility is nice, clean, and comfortable. A great experience to stay at a (foreigner-friendly) ryokan. The dinner/beer garden/maiko meeting & performance on the roof was nice as well. さらに表示

the hotel provides a traditional japanese experience, the beds are made up, like the seats on the ground. the rooms are comfortable and a good size. no rooms have ensuite showers, there is a cubicle shower at the end of each hallway and a communal shower at the lobby, the communal shower is not a set of shower cubicles, its a communal shower & bath!! さらに表示

This is a pleasent hotel but needs some money spending on it, it's looking quite aged and it was very basic for the price I paid. The hotel staff on reception did not speak much English and could not recommend anything to do other than leaflets that were on the side. However the staff were smiley. Due to it being a traditional ryokan the futon on the floor and pillows were very uncomfortable and the air con was very loud, you should expect a uncomfortable nights sleep if you are used to western style hotels but it was worth trying it out for a night.
