Wonderful. Brilliant. Totally enjoyable. Short walk from the subway. Met by the wonderful staff at reception, and as we had reached way before check in time, they offered to keep the luggage and check in for us so that we could walk around the vicinity. Suggested various routes and activities we could keep ourselves busy the entire morning and evening. Returned in the evening and they had upgraded us to a larger room as they noticed that we had "very big pieces of luggage". :) Meals were brilliantly executed. The entire family absolutely loved it. In retrospect, the Kaiseiki was even better than what we had at another pricier ryokan in Kyoto. Friendly staff even prepared props for all guests to pose in and took snapshots for all. Surprised us with complimentary copies of photos attached to their lovely postcards to take home as souvenirs. Can't find ANY faults at all. Highly recommended! さらに表示

Amazing Hotel with a authentic Japanese atmosphere: great Japanese traditional rooms and outstanding staff and delicious food. Our stay was wonderful and relaxing, and enjoyable with tasteful rooms. a roof garden, lovely, music and hot tubs. The food was beautifully-prepared and delicious.The staff was outstanding and kind. The location is convenience for accessing most parts of famous major attractions in Nara. I highly recommend it especially its breakfast and evening meal. さらに表示

Stay at the hotel was very nice with very helpful staff. We were only disappointed by the location and view from our room where we expected more nature view whereas city view. The diner included in our room was amazing and gave us a true local experience. さらに表示

Hotel New Wakasa is an excellent hotel with impressive customer service right from check in. The hotel is accessible to most tourist attraction by foot. The onsen was lovely and the rooms were clean and cozy. The staffs were polite and provide awesome customer services. The kaiseki dinner was mouth watering delicious and so was the japanese breakfast. Overall It provided an awesome experience for me and my boyfriend. Spa is nice and clean. Would have enjoyed more if of the staff were wearing more authentic clothes. Same for the atmosphere at the front desk and during dinner in the restaurant. Would be much nicer to listen to old Japanese music instead of jazz... The rooms are big (as on the photos) and arranged the most authentic way possible. It is great to sleep on tatami. Enjoy! さらに表示

Close to Todaiji very convenience. Nice food, nice people. Beautiful hotel. The only drawback is that the bathtub is a little too old. And the bathtub is at balcony, but curtain can hardly fix, can easily be seen by passer-by. さらに表示

Staff at New Wakasa were extremely helpful. Especially Mori (森）& Naohiro (下谷). Their services were awesome and far beyond our expectations. They were meticulous & patient with guests. They walked extra miles to help with our baggages & guiding us the good places to visit. Other staff were very good too. Will stay here again if back to Nara. さらに表示

We paid 400€ for one night, kanseki dinner and traditional breakfast. It was our first ryokan stop, it felt worth 300€ but not 400€ Onsen is very small. Great smiling, accomodating staff. Close to Nara center and station さらに表示

My wife and I stayed at the New Wakasa for a night in their mountain view room. You could see the roof of Todai-ji from the window! Everything about the hotel was top notch; the room, service, food, everything. They give you a pair of yukata to walk around the hotel in, they serve you delicious yuzu tea upon arrival, and they give you a great map to all the attractions in Nara. We would happily stay there again! - One note, the breakfast is very traditionally Japanese. If you're a westerner you might want to be ready to take a quick trip to the Family Mart for yogurt & fruit in the mornings. さらに表示

Excellent authentic Japanese experience with traditional style(tatami) room, very friendly and helpful staffs. The basketball is traditional Japanese style which is also a great experience. We receive a very warm welcome when we arrive the hotel, the staff let us wear some funny japense costume on our heads and took a wonderful photo for us. The hotel location is quite close to the main tourist spots, 5 minutes walk to the big Buddha temple. Cons: a bit far from JR and public transportation. 15-20 minutes walk from JR station to hotel which is not very convenient when you have big luggage. さらに表示

Great location with a secret shortcut to main attractions in the unique Nara Park. If you're looking for a clean, cozy, stylish place with excellent tatami experience, this is it.., and don't miss the perfect Japanese dinner! This charming ryokan is a little far from the JR station but is very near the (Big Buddha) Temple. They have excellent customer service as the welcoming attendant gives a background on what a ryokan is and even offers a suggested walking route to view the popular sites in Nara. The Kaiseki they offer for dinner is delicious but the breakfast buffet fell a little bit short. The abundance of food though, that also showcases the talent of the chef was not amiss. さらに表示

This was my most favourite hotel in the whole of Japan. The rooms were modern Japanese design and were much more than what we expected with beautiful screened off areas. Staff were amazing, with a great sense of humour and explained all the highlights of Nara. On arrival, we were greeted with hot towels and a bowl of yummy hot lemon refreshment. The traditional breakfast was awesome, plentiful, and an artform in it's own right. The hotel is not located very close to public transport, however it is located conveniently close to the main sites for visiting Nara. We loved our stay here and would rate it as our most favourite hotel stay we had whilst in Japan. I have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel as excellent value for money and feel it is deserving of of a higher star rating than it currently is. さらに表示

We had a great stay here, the staff were very helpful and went to the trouble of explaining every detail of the hotel, the onsen bath and the etiquette required which would avoid embarrassment if you were unfamiliar. They even went to the trouble of outlining good places to eat and a good route for us to take around Nara park the following day on two different maps. The only things I would say were not ideal were that smoking is allowed in the rooms (even though we are smokers it means that the room was slightly yellowed which is unpleasant) and we were not offered the choice of the western breakfast which is advertised on their website but to be fair we didn't ask! Altogether a great experience and we would have stayed another night but unfortunately it was fully booked. さらに表示

Hotel New Wakasa is not really located downtown but is close to Nara attractions and at a walking distance from Kintetsu Nara station. Food is very nice (we had the half board package) as the breakfast (japanese style). さらに表示

Very comfortable room. Included breakfast and dinner which were both very good (but may be a little challenging if you are not accustomed to Japanese traditional food). Staff is great... Very friendly. It is also just maybe 5 minutes walk from the Giant Buddha, National Museum etc... You cannot beat this location. さらに表示

Our stay was wonderful and relaxing. The hotel had a authentic Japanese atmosphere (lovely room, hot tubs, delicious food). The staff was very personal, happy and attentive. One of the staff reviewed our stay in Nara with us and arranged a local "good will guide " to give us a first hand taste of history and culture. I would highly recommended this hotel located a taxi-ride away from the train It is near the sights and local historic park. Although Hotel Waseka was moderately priced, the personal service was superb and worth the cost. We highly recommended this one of a kind hotel that has a long history at this location in Nara. The evening meal is worth arranging as there were 19 small courses that were interesting and works of art. If you can eat at the hotel, we would recommend the evening meal and breakfast.
