Lovely place, warm and simple accommodation. Owner seems to be organizing mushrooms picking tours in season. Typical Japanese breakfast included, enough to keep you going the whole morning. Our room had a sink and its own toilets, with the shared bathroom located in the basement of the building. Alternatively, Nozawa Onsen is dotted with cute public onsens and there's one right across the road from the Marunaka Lodge. The resort free shuttle bus stops right outside the property, it's 2 stops to the city center and it also takes you to the ski gondola. さらに表示

It was okay - this booking was for a single woman, travelling with friends - it was difficult to locate staff when needed - including check in and check out. さらに表示

When we arrived we could not find any staff to confirm this was where we were staying. Staff were very difficult to get a hold of. The breakfast was quite ok - including a slice of toast and a little bowl of cereal each morning. Wifi too weak to access in our room - but fine in breakfast room and lobby. My pregnant wife and I stayed here for the nights and find it was pretty good value for money. We had bunks which were a bit like big cots with very thin mattresses. It was a bit uncomfortable so my wife used the spare beds mattress to double up hers. I'm 6ft and could just got in their comfortably lying diagonally. Breakfast was good and our host always willing to help and drop us of at various places in the morning. Good cheap local restaurant very close by, walk up street and it's down the 1st street to the left. さらに表示

Location - On the outskirts of town, about 20 mins from the main gondola, but.... it's 100m from the bus stop that runs a free shuttle service and also does the local bus to the train station. If you do "Skyline and Kawasara" as your last run you're a couple of minutes from the door. Rooms - Go for the Japanese style as you have more room, the bunk-beds in the Western style will be a squeeze if you're 180+cm and the mattress is a futon anyway. If you're solo and tall, just take the bedding off and sleep on the tatami section. Good heating and bedding is standard Japanese ryokan. Facilities - Always a warm fire burning, Japanese breakfast was amazing with plenty to eat and it changed everyday (I'd stay again, just for the food), It has it's own onsen, that is not a scolding as some of the local baths. Private toilet in every room and hot water, etc for drinks available in corridor. Host - Friendly, helpful and ran me down to the tourist info to get discount lift tickets. Star!
