I had a great stay at Kinparo. I was traveling solo and my room was probably too big for me (and meant for a family) but with most of Kyoto booked, this was my only option. It was a bit more expensive than I'd wanted - but if it's the heart of Sakura season, your options may be limited if you're booking only a month out - which was my case. The best part of this ryokan is the excellent location - it's right in the heart of downtown Kyoto with easy access to buses and the subway. If you aren't staying for too long (I only had 3 nights in Kyoto), you may want to spend more to stay in a good location to save time. The only issue for myself was not being able to speak Japanese - and not much of Kyoto, this hotel included, has fluent English speakers on staff, which may be an issue if you want to order room service (for a traditional ryokan meal) or ask about other amenities. But, I don't blame the hotel, Kyoto or Japan at all - I wish I spoke Japanese! Thank you, Kinparo! さらに表示

It was far too expensive what it was. The room was spacious and clean but lacking in heating or drinking water. The fridge was glaringly empty. I can't imagine a visiting samurai appreciating such parsimony. さらに表示

First of, this is a great central location - not far from Kyoto station, and perfect for jumping on the bus/grabbing a taxi for any direction of the major sightseeing districts. Also close to the Nishiki market and lots of restaurants. Rooms are a decent size and clean - and for the price, a reasonable way to have the Japanese-style room experience. Bathrooms are small, other facilities OK. さらに表示

Very conveniently located, within walking distance to Nishiki market as well as downtown Kyoto. 10 minutes walk to 3 different subway stations. Wifi was almost non-existent, but apart from that, the room was nice and spacious. さらに表示

This was to be a local break and sample Japanese tradition. Although there was no bar or dining room I did not expect it. There are numerous dinning places around traditional and western with in easy walking distance and price range. I managed to go 5 yards past front door first night and 300 the second but both very good food. Hotel made very welcome and had Japanese breakfast one day enjoyable but not probably to everyone's tast. I found the futons very comfortable and warm. Would stay again and recommend the experience. さらに表示

This was an amazing find! My mom was visiting from the states, and I was able to give her a lovely cultural experience in Kyoto. Kinparo Ryokan was a huge part of that. The location was fantastic and our accommodations were charming. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a traditional stay in Japan. さらに表示

We had a great stay at Kinparo Ryokan for 3 nights, staying in a traditional Japanese room, which was a lovely experience. The Japanese breakfast was beautiful and delicious (and huge!), and the recently renovated cento (public bath) was beautiful and peaceful, a great way to relax after a busy day of touring around Kyoto. The inn is centrally located in the city, on a narrow side street between a busy commercial district (with lots of bus service) and the very interesting Nishiki traditional market street, full of food stalls and various kinds of shops. The staff at Kinparo were all terrific. They generally speak just a little English (one of our group speaks Japanese so that was not a problem for us) but I think travellers without much Japanese knowledge could manage to communicate as they are all very kind and of course want to be helpful. さらに表示
