My girlfriend and I went there for the week. Place was beautiful, onsen was amazing, and the food was great. On our last day there I fell sick. When the owner heard I was sick, she did everything in her power to help. I have never met a kinder stranger in my life. Please know if you stay here, you WILL be taken care of. さらに表示

This is my first ever review, but this Ryokan truly deserves it. It was just a one-night stay and I barely had the time in this Ryokan, yet I felt like I am home again from the moment I was greeted by Ms. Saito (the woman who runs the house) until I checked out. Conveniently located between Kamikochi & Norikura-Kogen, it is the perfect place to stay should you wish to check out both places. And it is VERY EASY to find. If you come from Matsumoto Shin-shimashima bus terminal, take a bus that bounds for Norikura-Kogen (you can get a bus-route map from the information counter). Stop at BANDOKORO bus stop, this Ryokan is right behind the bus stop with barely a 3-minute walk. Walk down the alley next to the bus stop, take a left turn at the first junction, it is the second house on your right. The highlight is definitely Ms. Saito who made my stay so unforgettable. Her kindness, helpfulness and sincerity in treating people can touch hearts and is hard to find. She speaks very little english, but she tried her best to explain through her gestures and even flipping dictionary to find the right word. She helped me plan my schedules and even drove me to bus-transfer stops, Oyakodaki (to Kamikochi) and Norikura-Kogen bus terminal (to the top of Norikura-Kogen) because the one-hour-once bus was left or just the bus schedule didn’t meet up well. You have to try her dinner and breakfast. She can make it for you if requested. With very minimal charge for BOTH meals (definitely can’t find it out there), she gave this glutton a tasty feast of Japanese food. Her hand-made soba noodles, tempura, fried fish, pork chop, pickles, fresh vegetables (from her own garden) & fruits, free flow rice & hot tea (for dinner), chunky fried salmon, japanese omelette, fried and fresh vegetables, pickles, soup, free flow rice & hot tea (breakfast). During my final hour before checkout, she picked me up from the Norikura-Kogen bus terminal with her car, showed me around Bandokoro and insisted to さらに表示

This Ryonkan was impressive: maybe the house is not very modern but so clean and full of good spirits. Miss Saito was so caring and kind - her food was delicious and very good price and she always helped us when needed. We will never forget this stay and recommend her soba noodles and veggies from her own garden. さらに表示

The woman who runs this Ryokan speaks very little english, but she makes up for it in how sweet she is. We had a great time staying here. The baths are gender separated. The water is very murky and has sediment but don't be alarmed by this! In fact, this area is famed for its opaque onsen waters, apparently brimming with magnesium and calcium. So it is actually a good thing, and very sought after by the japanese! She can make dinner and breakfast for you if requested. You should take her up on this and try her soba noodles. She makes them by hand and they are delicious!! WIFI was provided and was superb quality. Her Ryokan is very conviently located a 5 minute walk from the Bandokoro bus stop, and you can get there in a little over an hour from the Matsumoto Shin-shimashima station by bus. Be advised, the buses only run once per hour. If you would like to visit Kamikochi valley from here using the bus system, it is doable but be advised you have to transfer once. Just let the driver at Bandokoro know you want to go to Kamikochi and he will make sure you get off at the right spot to transfer. Two last notes: Make sure you book a room for the correct amount of people on Agoda, as the japanese charge per person, not per room. If you book incorrectly, you will have to pay the difference in person using cash, and there are no atms in the area. So 1) make sure you're room is booked with the correct number of people and 2) make sure you bring a lot of extra cash up the mountain with you (and remember bus tickets can be expensive if you need to buy them up there!) Overall, great experience in a relaxing location with a kind host. さらに表示

The location of the hotel was absolutely convenient. It is located at a small town about mid way to the mountain tops with beautiful nature views surrounding the place. It is very close to Kamikochi, ski resorts, and access to hiking trails. This place is inside mother nature's territory. The price was a great deal for a japanese style hotel with an onsen. This hotel is family owned and operated. The owner was very kind and helpful and takes place of this place. If you're on a nature getaway trip this is the perfect place to stay.
