We loved the location of this ryokan. The private hot bath in the room made this spot even more desirable. The area was breathtaking with amazing scenery. The staff was very friendly and inviting. The room was huge and we enjoyed the dinner and breakfast included with the stay. I would love to come back here and stay in the same spot so that I could further explore the area. さらに表示

The very first time to stay in Machiya house, it was a fantastic experience. Cozy and tranquil atmosphere, and you must to stay quietly even in your room. Fortunately all the guests here are nice and well behaved. さらに表示

The guesthouse is a very traditional japanese style house. The location is near underground. It is not at the middle of action area yet it would give you a good night sleep. Owner is very helpful and able to speak fluent english to explain and answer all the questions as well as providing advises. Love to stay there again for sure. さらに表示

The location is very good - 15 min walk to train station, subway and bus station around the corner. Traditional wooden house with large (six tatami) room, cortyard garden and everything you need. Towels are 100 yen per day but free in case you stay longer (we stayed one week). Very friendly host who speaks English very well and can explain everything and prvides valuable tips. さらに表示

We like it is Japanese type of old house. The place is considered as quite near to some of shopping areas. One station away from Kyoto Station. It is near the station exit no. 6. Can take direct bus to some of the famous places, like the market, Gion, temple etc as long as you know which bus to take and how to go there. Only think that the sign board of this place is not visible. It is just a small note in front of the house. One thing we think that this place can improve is to provide towel. Not sure if they have overlooked this.Anyway, the host is nice and they did explain to us how to go to some of the famous places upon receiving us on the 1st day. Thank you for that. さらに表示

Stay with my children in Japanese room (3 person) from 28 Nov - 2 Dec. We enjoyed our stay very much. The place is so, so clean and the host, Mr Yoshi, was very friendly and considerate.. A wonderful host. My daughter's nose bleed at night and stained the pillow, bed sheet and futon. I was feeling very bad about it and offer to pay for the extra cleaning but he will not hear anything about it and instead check on my daughter's condition and told me not to worry about the cleaning. The location is very good too. We had breakfast at nearby McDonald and was walking along for the nearest bus stop / train station to go to Kiyomizudera temple, and before we know it, we already reached the temple on foot in about 40 min!! The house is very interesting too with it's narrow staircase (just like in Doraemon show) and lack of soundproofing. It let us understand why Japanese moves so quietly and gracefully. さらに表示

The house is very nice. The room is comfortable but quite small. There is only one shared shower room in this house but it's OK because there are only 3 guest rooms. Don't forget to bring towel with you because only hire towel here. The location is very good within 2 k.m. you can walk, ride on bus or take the subway to Kyoto station, Gion and Nishiki market. さらに表示

My wife and I spent a lovely six nights here (and would happily return) but I admit I was a bit taken aback by how small the room was. Eight square metres is something you try and visualize but it took a little getting used to. Having said that, this is what a ryokan is: traditional Japanese accommodation and far more interesting than a chain hotel. You are also sharing a bathroom (which was actually fine, there are only three rooms in total). So it is a place for sleeping in, not really hanging around in much. On the positive side (and it was almost all positive), it is a charming, authentic, well-situated and very efficiently run establishment. Yoshi (the owner) told us his great-great-grandfather had originally built it and he is a wonderful host. He could not have been more helpful and he speaks very good English (this turned out to be a rarer quality in Kyoto than we had expected for such a tourism-oriented city). You are five minutes from a metro station (Gojo, take the south-west exit when leaving the station) and a nice twenty-minute walk to Kyoto Station (which is in itself an amazing place). And the wireless connection was superb. It is NOT easy to find, however. The Google coordinates are 34.994983 135.758538. There is a Spanish restaurant/tapas bar on the corner of the road the ryokan is on and the main road (Karasuma dori) where you get off the metro and the ryokan is on the right with two white cloth banners hanging down (on the RIGHT; there is a different one on the left!). One final thing: the nearest launderette (open 24 hours) is about a 15-minute walk away at Google Maps 34.997431 135.751902. There is a 7-11 just down from the metro entrance and a 24-hour Family Mart (mini-supermarket) a short distance in the other direction (34.995993 135.756905). さらに表示

This Ryokan is very small so I felt as if I had the entire old house to myself. It's rough sleeping on a futon on the floor and after two nights, my back wanted a regular bed. I spent three nights there. The Ryokan photographs well too! I'd never stayed in a Japanese traditional home so I wanted this experience but now that I've done it, I'll stick to regular hotels. Cons: there are no amenities and no cleaning either... the owner provided me a towel at no additional cost but the Ryokan rules stated that a towel costs 100 yen. The place is too expensive not to get towels. Pros: near Gojo subway, real neighborhood, quite, can't get anymore Japanese さらに表示
