Hosts were very welcoming and the rooms with the futon were comfortable. You can hear the frogs and maybe a racoon walking around at night. Food was tasty! Salmon with butter etc for dinner and lots of bread for breakfast. さらに表示

We stayed in two different Ryokans one in Magome and one in Tsumago doing the natasuka way. The Magome one was nearly half the price but you did notice a big difference. It really is more of a BnB that does dinner. The hosts are nice with limited English but you’re sort of just filling a room in the quirky converted temple that isn’t quite as nice as it sounds. If you only did one Ryokan experience I’d spend more for something more authentic but this is still a great option out of only a few in Magome. My only real gripe was the futons were brutal. さらに表示

very hyper and friendly host! made the stay really homely. both dinner and breakfast were good. really nice of them to offer us a ride back to the train station especially since the buses are not very frequent. a slight distance further but definitely worth it! さらに表示

This was the best Ryokan we stayed in during our entire trip. While it isn't the most flash, it is by far the most wholesome and memorable. The host is so lovely and makes you feel like a part of the family. The meals she cooked were phenomenal and it was hard to leave. I highly recommend this Ryokan! さらに表示

This was by far our favourite experience in Japan. The Ryokan is absolutely stunning. We were the only two people staying at the time, which probably helped, but it was so peaceful and beautiful. We also got engaged along the Nakasendo trail, which adds to the fond memories, but it was like living in a dream, waking up and looking out onto the garden slowly being illuminated by the dawn sunshine. The lady that runs it was also wonderful. She was very accommodating around when we wanted dinner and breakfast, both of which were delicious, and she was so sweet when we told her we were engaged (she was actually the first person we told because of the time difference with the UK! Haha!), and brought us a lovely little souvenir gift. Such kind, thoughtful service. We will 100% be coming back here in the future to enjoy the peace and serenity again. And to relive our happy memories. さらに表示

Amazing view from the room, host was very friendly and the husband dropped us at Nakatsugawa station the next morning. Dinner and breakfast prepared by the host was awesome ! Be prepared to walk up the steep slope , room is a bit too cold during winter as kerosene heater was not sufficient to keep the whole room warm. さらに表示

Indeed, this was more like a home stay than a hotel stay, which made it all the more beautiful for me. Getting to the location was a touch tricky because I had a luggage bag with me. Try to travel light and you shouldn't face much problem getting here. And make sure you take the train, not the highway bus because walking from the highway bus is an uphill climb (literally). The hosts were super awesome, especially when I fell very ill with a cold during my second day there. The very lovely female host went out of her way to make me feel comfortable with medicine and porridge, and I'm just so so grateful that she went the extra mile for me. The room is a traditional tatami room that face the most wonderful little inner garden, complete with a pond, perfect for if you want to clear your mind (seriously) They also have an adorable dog that's just the cutest darn thing. You 100% won't regret staying here, just keep in mind that this is someone's home, not a hotel of any kind. さらに表示

A great stay in Magome. This ryokan was very atmospheric and part of an old temple. Clean and cozy. The lady who took care of us was very sweet and she prepared us great dinner and breakfast. Wonderful start of our Japanese trip! さらに表示

We had a wonderful stay here as it was our first ryokan experience. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us, the inclusive meals excellent, the room facilities clean and we'll appointed. The spirituality added a serene dimension being attached to a temple. Unfortunately could only stay one night as the ryokan was closed on our other preferred day. Great location for walking Nakasendo trail to Tsumago. さらに表示

Staying at the Manpukuan Eisyouji Ryokan is a truly unique Japanese experience. A ryokan is a traditional Japanese-inn and this one also forms the Eisyouji temple. I stayed one night, having visited Magome on the first day and hiked to Tsumago on the second. The host speaks a little English, just enough to get by, however she's incredibly friendly and cooked a delicious evening meal and breakfast! The ryokan is easy to find (just off the main street leading through Magome) and has a traditional Japanese design (sliding doors, rock garden, etc.). If you're planning a visit to Magome I highly recommend spending a night there as it will definitely enhance the experience. さらに表示

We were here middle of Jan at the start of our holiday for 2 nights. Reviewing after the finish of our holiday so we had other places to compare too. Turned out this was probably the best place we stayed. Had the whole place to ourselves, kids had their own room. Beautiful garden, lots of history, traditional building, nice hot bath. Brilliant food and great host who spoke very good english. It was definitely cold but once the heaters got going it was snug and plenty of bedding. They kindly took us to the train station when we checked out. For sure it was one of the highlights of our holiday. さらに表示

The most stunning property - waking up in a 16th century temple is quite magical. The gardens are beautiful. Run by a lovely couple who went the extra mile with gifts and taking us to the station. Wonderful and healthy home cooked meals. Facilities were basic due to the nature of the accommodation - tatami single beds and shared bathroom but not a problem for us. Was a little chilly at night but I had a steaming hot bath waiting for me every evening and heaters in each room. Magome itself is gorgeous and our stay here completed it. Perfect location if you are doing the hike to Tsumago. Highly recommend. さらに表示

We loved our stay at this temple. We were the only guests and were served dinner and breakfast. The room was large, with a view of the garden through lower windows on the screen or if you open the screen. It was so quiet and peaceful. The owner was so lovely and kind. I highly recommend this place, especially before hiking to Tsumago. さらに表示

I don't no where to start... our stay was something like we always wished Japan would be. We are backpacking through Japan and our stay at this place was almost by accident. we intend to walk the nakasendo trail between Magome and Tsumago. So we realised, that we would have to stay in Magome to start the trail early. the ryokan is located in a most idyllic temple with a wonderful japanese garden. our room was quiet and had a direct view to the garden. the owner of the ryokan was one of the nicest host we've ever had. the dinner and the breakfast were delicious. of course, the sanitary installations are outdated but absolutely ok for hikers and backpackers! overall, we loved it! さらに表示

This was easily the best place we stayed at during our three-week journey through Japan. Its not because of the room itself, which might not be very fancy (but clean and comfy). Nor because of the bathroom and toilets, which could perhaps use a small upgrade. But the atmosphere of this ryokan is amazing, as is the hostess and the food! The ryokan is located in an old temple (one of the sights in Magome), surrounded by the graveyard. Inside the ryokan, there's a beautiful little garden. It has an extremely relaxed feel to it. The best part is the hostess, who is very friendly and will do everything to make your stay comfortable. Her son even gave us a ride to Nakatsugawa when we left so that we did not have to take the bus...! The food that is being served is amazing, we stayed for three nights and were served very diverse courses every night. Such a treat! By the way, we also brought along our 1.5 year old, and it was no problem at all. Highly recommended place to stay! さらに表示

When we saw the Japanese garden (which we saw from our Nice tatami room), we were amazed by it's beauty, feeling immediately at home and peaceful. A lovely host and beautiful surroundings. Highlight of our stay in Japan so far! We would defenitely recommand this place! さらに表示

Perfectly located for the "hike" (it is rather a walk). Run by a very nice host who cooks western style cuisine. No WiFi. If it gets cold there are heaters. They are a little noisy. But the place you sleep is quite something. Very old and charming. I would defenetly recommend. さらに表示

Temple stay, loved the sitting room and Japanese style bed room divided by sliding doors. Up on hill, tiring to get there with luggage but worth it. Beautiful gardens, love the people running place, loved the breakfast and dinner, got ride to Trainstation when I left. Felt like part of family. Love to go back again. Great experience, miss it already. Highly recommend. さらに表示
