It is maybe a 10 minute walk from the main port, Miyanoura, on the main street. If you want you can wait for a bus because the stop is in front of the place. I stayed in January 2020 and the building is in brand new condition near the ocean and very well kept. The host is very hospitable and makes sure you have information for you to get by during your visit to Yakushima. The best thing is that you get your own room instead of bunkbeds with other travellers. I am sure to stay there on my return. さらに表示

I went with my picky mum and we both love it a lot. It is a hostel mixed with a fishing shop. So check-in in the shop. The bus stop for the hiking spots is just outside the shop. The new block is 3min walk from there. It was almost new I could say (Nov 2019). Super clean, tidy, decent, quiet and got anything we needed. There is a kitchen with oven, seasoning and all that, so you can cook to save some money and make your plan more flexible as the restaurants around do not open on some days and the opening hours are quite short (Just to remind the supermarket is near the pier and it take about 10-15mins to walk from the hostel). They can prepare early takeaway breakfast (Japanese bento) like 3:30 in the morning if you are going for a early hike (most hostel there serve the same one with same price). さらに表示

Highly recommend this place! The facilities have everything you need. Check in and check out were very easy. Shared kitchen, bathrooms (with individual toilet and showers), laundry room, truly everything you can think up. Simple, clean, affordable accommodations with private lockable room. If we had any trouble communicating with the staff, they used a translator and provided us with additional printed information in our language. Very helpful and very kind. The bus stop to all of the local site and hikes is within a 5 minute walking distance. さらに表示

There are 3 different buildings at MInshuku Iwakawa and I selected the new wing which is located away from the Main Street. The facilities are very new and the room is spacious. There is common areas like kitchen and laundry area. What's more important is the shoes dryers especially for Yukashima which is famous for wet weather. Spending 3000 Yen for a night to have a private room with shared toliet was worthwhile. There were shared kitchen and shared bathroom and free washing machine to use. Supermarket and bus stop heading to hiking was easy to reach, just 10 minutes and 30 seconds walking distances respectively. The ground floor of guesthouse was actually a fishing shop owned by guesthouse owner. You could join fishing activities or borrow fishing equipment with charged if you are interested. The room was 'tatami' style and very clean. I spent 4 nights here and highly recommended this place. さらに表示

It's a bit tricky to get around the island when it's not peak season, so staying at this guesthouse was great since it's near the port. There are plenty of places to eat & catching the bus is easy (since it comes so infrequently in off season). Easy access to Shiratani too! Very nice homestay experience in yakushima!! 15mins walk from the pier. Reasonable price for the stay! 6000yen 2 people. Housekeeper is nice n prompt! Places n facilities are clean n tidy!! Also can use their stove, pans, dishes n water basin! We just bought some pork n beef n back for shabu shabu! Highly recommend the stay! さらに表示
