We were so lucky to have booked Ogata house for our overnight stay while cycling Shimanami Kaido. This was a special place in a 100 year old house which is run by the delightful Michiko San who was an amazing host. We were 2 couples staying in 2 rooms with futons. There is a room with western beds which was occupied by another cycling couple from the UK. The house is beautiful and sitting on the verandah with an evening drink overlooking the bay was just delightful. This is a typical Older style home which is just beautiful with tatami rooms which are wonderfully elegant. Our host Michiko has excellent English and I was so lucky to be able to try on her beautiful kimono. An amazing experience! I would not hesitate to recommend Ogata house particularly if you want a quintessential Japanese experience. Our host Michiko was integral to the experience. Excellent host who is a very kind and generous person and made us feel very welcome during our stay. The house is an amazingly beautiful Japanese house in a perfect location after a long days ride on the Shimanami Kaido. Would recommend staying here! さらに表示

Our family was given very friendly and careful hospitality during the stay. Do not expect typical hotel accommodation, but enjoy very personal environment. The 100-y or more old house, with the history of Murakami pirates, are fully renovated maintaining the Japanese heritage and very modern luxurious western living room. Beautiful clean Japanese-styled home, run by owner who speaks fluent English. Great hospitality and kindness from owner. Breakfast with a view, where you can catch sunrise at the same spot. Perfect overnight stop after cycling 50+km from Onomichi. The common bathroom is for individual user, comes with a hot tub. Thank you for making it memorable for us. Arigato gozaimashita! さらに表示
