What a fantastic experience! Service is top notch, starting with the shuttle provided from the train station. Upon arrival at the hotel, staff is there to greet you and take your bags directly to the room. Our family had a number of various rooms, from Western to standard Japanese, to rooms with private baths. I would stay away from the Western room in favor of Japanese, especially since you are at an onsen hotel. The room with private bath was superb. Huge room with countless amenities and a wonderful tub outdoors. Lots of special extras as well such as complimentary afternoon beverage and sweets, large public bath, takio performance in the evening. Be sure to visit the gift shop, prices are very reasonable. Overall, a wonderful hotel that I would highly recommend.

This is the most expensive hotel during my last trip to Japan. Room was spacious, but dusty, things are old and room smell. Onsen was very average, dinner is above averagr. Overall, I have tried a couple of ryokan, this is the worst.

hotel staff picked us up at JR station politely, the room was clean, everything was fine. Needed to book shuttle bus for departure to JR station in advance if leaving in the morning because the shuttle bus was not very large.

We arrange a day or 2 ago to ask hotel fetch us at the station. Upon arrival, two friendly uncle help us carry bags to their small bus. Then bring us to hotel. There are another 3 or 4 staffs standing outside of hotel main lobby to greet us. Then bring us to checkin counter, as we reach earlier, she offer us a free bicycle rental for us to roam around the beautiful country side town. Most of the shops are not open during lunch time, so end up we eat at convinience store. About 3 plus we back to hotel, again a warm welcome at main door. There is a japanese staff lead us to counter again. When they found out that we can speak mandarin, a chinese staff approach us and she help us with all processes. She introduces us the in house hot bath area, lead us to room, and make tea for us. She is very straight and cute that always able to make us laugh. Hotel do offer paid private pool, (free at the morning for hotel guest). We took one and never regret paying that. The hotel room is spacious, very nice decorated, we took the japanese style room. Every single items are taken care by them, and you just need to enjoy it. We didnt book the hotel food, so at night we went out, nearby there is this japanese-chinese style uncle that do all the cooking. The food not bad, together with a warm sake, perfect moment. The next day we check out and uncle send us back to station again. Again, staffs stand outside and wave good bye to us. I need to praise for the details of the services, they continuously wave till our bus turn and cannot see us. If system allowed, i would like to give 6 stars for staffs, all facilities is great, but staffs make it perfect and outstanding. Thank you Rurikoh staffs and girl from hubei, you made our trip a memorable one.

Our stay was very good experience and we could tell that it was a very fancy hotel. A very different experience which at first seemed daunting due to our very limited Japanese language knowledge but which was nice - a good way to experience a traditional Japanese Ryokan. Getting there was very hard as we had to catch the free courtesy bus, but all the sign cards held up and all the busses were only in Japanese, and no-one in the area speaks English (as opposed to Tokyo, Nagano, hakuba, shiga kogen, Kyoto, Nara where you can always find someone). It was scary getting on the bus after showing someone the name in both Japanese and English on our phone, not entirely sure it was the right place. Recommend having the place written out clearly in Japanese to save this drama. Our name was not in the roll call of the bus as the driver didn't want to call it out as he couldn't pronounce it - it was only quite a way in he pointed to it for us. The stay itself was nice - we couldn't afford a package including meals so it was hard to eat with no restaurants we could find in the area open for dinner, but there was a lawson nearby that we just ate instant noodles and rice triangles for meals while we were there. The open air Onsen was great (if you're adventurous) with a nice view. They have the private onsens free to use in the morning 7:30am-10:30 - recommend doing the main free Onsen at night and trying the private at least once - it's lockable and a private Onsen which is very nice to do with friends or family (we snuck swimwear in so we weren't awkward)
