Our room was large enough for my wife and I and our Son to share. All the staff were warm and welcoming and we enjoyed our traditional Japanese breakfasts in our room. Situated a 15 minute walk form the main shopping and nightlife areas it is very conveniently located. The Public bath in the Ryokan was good but the water could be hotter. All in all a great place to stay.

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The Ryokan has great facilities and a gave us exactly what we wanted which is a classic ryokan experience. It is not far from the older part of the city and a bit of a longer walk to the more modern downtown. The staff was very attentive, friendly and took trouble to teach us the ways of the Japanese. Their dinner was delicious where they setup the dinner in your room and then converted it back to living and sleeping room after Dinner. Public hot bath facilities was also good. All in all an excellent experience.

Very warm & clean ryokan. Feel like going home. The staff are very helpful & friendly. The tatami room is very spacious & the futons are very comfortable. After a day of sightseeing, a soak in the onsen is extremely relaxing. The location is great. Near to MRT station. The view of the Kamo River from the room is nice. I will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is over 120 years old but the owner keep hotel in a very good condition. Everyone in my family happy and enjoy staying there. We hope to stay there again in future.

The location is out of the way for the main sights in Kyoto so it is the main reason I didn’t like it. It is traditional and the staff is charming and very kind. However the style of decor seems too old and dark for modern travelers.

We came from Boston and this was the first time to stay in Ryokan for my girlfriend. We felt being welcomed when we stepped in them and every staffs was very kind and considerate, making us feel as if we were our home. Thank you for making our Ryokan experience special!! We'd definitely like to come back again.

The staff here embodies the best of Japanese service. We had three meals here (a kaiseki dinner, a shabu shabu dinner, and breakfast) and each was miles above the meals we had outside the ryokan (which were not slouches by any means, either). We happened to be staying here when Typhoon Jebi passed through, and the building lost power. At checkout, they offered us a 50% cash refund on that night (during which they had managed to serve us one of those fabulous meals), which was totally unsolicited. I will stay at Seikoro every time I visit Kyoto, no question.

They served us Shabu Shabu in the middle of the worst typhoon to hit Japan in 25 years. That sentence pretty much says everything you need to know about Seikoro. This place is awesome. Everyone served us with a smile. We lost power during typhoon Jebi and even that does not dampen my impression of the place. The Keiseki dinner was also AMAZING. We went to a separate restaurant one night just to see what the competition was, and Seikoro blew them out of the water. I was actually embarrassed for the other restaurant! Yes, its pricier than a regular hotel. Yes it's 100% worth it.

me and my partner stayed at seikoro for 2 nights. From the moment we stepped in we were in a awe of the treatment and hospitality the staff gave us. It was so beautiful. I would recommend to anyone. We chose to have the Japanese breakfast and the dinner. There was nothing we can fault. Every corner of this place is beautiful to your own semi private garden and wooden bath. I will never forget the pleasures of this place. It was very special.

Our stay at Seikoro was delightful. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the ryokan. Once inside it is as if you are the only guest and the staff is focused on making your stay special. They were very gracious and sincere. Our hostess was very attentive while respecting our privacy. She gave introduced us to the ins and outs of a ryokan while making us feel welcome. The public bath was a highlight. We enjoyed the multicourse meals served in our room for the full experience. Highly recommend doing so - it is worth doing just for the eye appeal. The room included a sitting area with western chairs making a comfortable area to relax, sit, drink tea and enjoy the garden. Wonderful experience.

Loved our stay here. The hospitality was impeccable. Even though we had children in our group, they also got the full keiseki courses for dinner and breakfast. The location is convenient to other areas of interest while it remains on a quiet side street. Definitely good value for many compared to other ryokans at the same quality.

The facility and staff were great. Limited English so it was a bit difficult to communicate trying to find directions places. It is out of the main area of Kyoto so we were a little frustrated in the beginning but appreciated it as compared to the hustle and bustle of the city. It is loud being off the main road. Workers smoke, although the facility is smoke free. The smoke does get in the rooms so it does smell. Be aware of the hours the restaurants are open.

We had a wonderful experience. The Seikoro Ryokan had great facilities and a classic ryokan experience. It is a short walk from the older part of the city and a bit of a longer walk to the more modern downtown. The staff was very attentive and for reference they exchanged USD for Yen at the best rate we received in Japan. Their kaiseki dinner was delicious and it should be noted that this is a particular experience to be enjoyed in Kyoto.

My friends and I had a wonderful time during our stay at Seikoro. The location was near a train stop, and the staff was more than wonderful. They were incredibly welcoming and accomdating, and the lady who served our room was more than adorable. The ryokan was clean, and the ambience was relaxing. I would definitely recommend this place.

It was a great traditional experience. The staff came and served us green tea in the morning, and set up our futons in the evening. The rooms were beautiful and the public bath was very fun and relaxing. It was a great traditional experience (even had to take our shoes off to enter!) As we left the staff all came out and waved us off :) さらに表示

The room was beautiful. Lots of space and very traditional. Staff were extremely helpful and came up to serve us tea and little snacks throughout the day. We opted for the traditional breakfast one morning which was a great experience and very tasty! Location is okay. You can walk to Kiyomizu Dera (about 20) or to the nearby station where it is easy to get to Gion. We also caught a bus nearby that took us to Kinkaku-Ji.
