The hostel is just a few walks away from the Nijo Castle, Nijomae station, and International Manga Museum. The place is relatively clean. The staff is helpful and very friendly. All good! I recommend this place if you want to stay in a not-so-crowded area さらに表示

I had an excellent stay here, soo close to the castle, the subway and good food/drink stops. Really nice building and friendly staff. Cheap too! After staying in 3 other budget hostels in Kyoto this really stood out. Well done! さらに表示

The hostel is in a nicely renovated house (even if it has some strange options like sinks directly opposed to the front door) and provides a great environment. It also has public transportation, restaurants, and minimarkets nearby. As for other reviews, I must say: This is not a party hostel, but is not a silent one either. The walls and floors are paper thin (as are the mattresses, by the way) and you hear every chat on the house, especially if you stay in the room above the living room. Don’t count on the night staff to enforce the hostel policies, because he is more interested in chatting and drinking. I believe conversations and getting to meet people is an essential experience in a hostel, but it should have a proper space to allow both socializing and sleeping. In this case it would be so easy to simply move the night crawlers to the café space adjacent, which has much better sound isolated. In fact in a Saturday night there was a big gathering and the gay from the staff promised to move people to the café…. He didn’t. At 1am there was still chatting all around the house and no one could sleep. In summary: - If you are interested in socializing with travel fellows, this is a very good hostel - If you want to get up early (I seriously recommend to get to main attractions early while in Kyoto, to avoid mass excursions), then choose some other place to stay. - If you want both to socialize and being able to sleep, then I’m sure there are better places in Kyoto. さらに表示

A 5 star backpackers hotel which me and my family really enjoyed. Great room, big enough for 3 adults +, shower and wash up facilities modern and clean with fantastic water pressure, washing machine and drier on site and a cafe on the ground floor. Subway entrance 100 metres away. The host...Marcus ?....was really helpful. Walking distance to Nino Castle and in addition, we had no idea celebrations were going on in the locality and Marcus directed us to them......which made for an unexpected and even more enjoyable evening. Will definitely stay again on our next visit to Kyoto. さらに表示

We stayed in a private family room which is an attic just above the reception. There is almost no 'wall', a thin paper door and plastics wrapped around. There is literally no sound proof, some guests and staff talks very loud in the public space even after 12am, I can hear everything in the room. Very small house with shower rooms in the back, you have to go downstairs, through public space to even just brush you teeth. Location is near Nijo-jo castle, but far away from busy area, not so many restaurants around. Not recommended. さらに表示

Nice little place which is strategic for your visit in Kyoto! The staff are friendly and we even went to sing Karaoke with other travellers. Very clean place. Just be mindful that it is a bit cold during the winter as there is no heater in the room. さらに表示
